    So I now have a job, although I haven’t actually started. I also spoke to a guy about Industry Training, and I might be able to do work experience, hee! Today I’m just going to start doing some work on my assignments and then I should be good.

    I got my first assessment of the term back; I passed (fantastically!). It was pretty easy — a resume and cover letter. I had two corrections; I am to write ‘would’ instead of ’should’…and I forgot to sign the letter.

    So voila. I will be back soon.

  • As My First Act For An 18 Year Old…

    So I’m a couple [Read 7] days late. That’s okay. I’ve had a big week. On Tuesday it was my 18th and thank you to everyone who remembered! I was overwhelmed with the well-wishes; people I didn’t expect to gave me things, people I have barely spoken to remembered my birthday — it was lovely. I got all dressed up in my dress [THE black dress -- hopefully I should have pictures soon!] and I went to the bar. Steph and Maddie, two of my best friends, had organised balloons and presents and *cough* bunny ears/tail/bow tie for me. I had a great time — possibly too much of a good time;

    I got kicked out of the bar.

    I swear it wasn’t my fault! I get really day-dreamy when I’m drunk and I went to the bathrooms and started daydreaming. Some chick came in and stayed there for a while, and then she’s like, “Are you okay sweetie?” and I’m like, “Yeah, I’m fine.” She decided that I’d been throwing up in the bathrooms, however, and she told the barmen.

    They came over to me and said, “Honey, we’ve cut you off from the bar. This means that when you get cut off you can’t stay in the hotel any longer. Have this glass of water, then you have to go.” So I had a glass of water and left — I couldn’t really convince them otherwise.

    Funny thing is; I was the least drunk of all of my friends. Ha.

    So I went out on Tuesday, then on Thursday I went out again, which was fun. On Friday I started working at the Good Food and Wine Festival for the weekend. I worked there all weekend, and it was paid volunteer work, which means that I got $200, which is excellent [because I needed it] but not so good [because it works out to about $7 per hour]. I was absolutely exhausted!

    And today I did accounting for 4 [count 'em!] hours.  I also got a call — I think I now have a job! Hurrah!

    So now I’m catching up on all this information and shaking my head over the state of Underground since I’ve neglected it and there’s no mod. Last time I do that!

    I’m also (hopefully) going to update the writings section sometime soon. I’ve got the layout all done– I just have to upload it etc. So keep an eye out. [The only issue is that they won't let me use FTP here. Grr.]

    Okay, it’s the 15th and it’s 10 days after my last post and I should really be more considerate and I’m sorry. Life has been hectic, to say the least. My timetable is, well, somewhat inconvenient and the World Cup has been on (some really good games, which is encouraging), so I haven’t posted.

    I have, however, been to the gym 4 or 5 times since I came back. It’s been really nice; I’ve done a Hip-Hop class (and come to the realisation that I am completely unco-ordinated) and I’ve done programs on the bike machines and the circuit machines and the step machines and rowing machines. I took tonight off because I’ve been exhausted in the past couple of days. [Not because of the exercise, I swear]. There’s been a lot of social stuff that’s been going on and I’ve been caught in the middle.

    Not much else has been happening, I’m afraid. Although I would like to say that it is now only 5 days until I am legally responsible for my actions. [Er, turn 18.]

    Whoo!

    Ah, man, being back at college is kind of exhausting. It’s taxing mentally and emotionally; I’ve gotten my timetable and I have 26 contact hours a week. I have an accounting subject which is a repeat of everything I did in high school, so I’m trying to get an exemption for it, which will bring my contact hours down two 22 a week.

    I’m looking for positions to go to for industry training, and it’s a little dicouraging to say the least. Most theatres don’t have enough funding to pay for someone to go and train in a position, so I don’t know what I’m going to do. I’ll have to talk to the career section and see what they say. Maybe they have some tricks up their sleeve. I hope so. :(

    So, all over, I’m a little ennui stricken. I am bored and discouraged. *le sigh*
